ROYAL SUITES NURSING AND REHABILITATION CENTER

214 W. JIMMIE LEEDS ROAD, GALLOWAY, NJ

The Royal Suites Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is located on an eight acre wooded site. A porte-cochere projecting over a circular driveway entrance protects the residents from inclement weather as they arrive or depart the facility. The overall design successfully produced a supportive environment enhancing the quality of life for residents which goes further by featuring way-finding that promotes privacy, dignity, and self-determination. The design maximized opportunities for ambulation and self-care, socialization, and independence while minimizing the negative aspects
of an institutional environment. This 186-bed Skilled Nursing Facility designed with comfort in mind offers expansive private and semi -private accommodations, with unique room layouts including private bathrooms. In addition to long term care, Royal Suites is designed to offer Respite care, Hospice care, and it has a rehabilitation and sub-acute unit situated in its own wing that includes stately suites, and a completely separate dining area and therapy gym.

RADIOLOGY ASSOCIATES OF HACKETTSTOWN

Currently under construction, the Radiology Associates of Hackettstown are investing $300,000 to renovate their imaging center. Part of the design includes significant alterations to an adjacent tenant space which provides opportunities for a second ultrasound room, mammography room, CT scan room, and support spaces along with
all new administrative offices. Projects of this nature require close collaboration with the client to ensure that their vision for modern equipment and facilities can be realized in accordance with all applicable codes, standards, and operating clearances, as prescribed by the manufacturer. Recognizing that certain spaces with heavy equipment can lead to patient claustrophobia, our diagnostic rooms are made to feel spacious and airy to encourage a sense of calm.

ARNOLD WALTER NURSING HOME

622 LAUREL AVENUE, HAZLET, NJ

There are few decisions more sensitive than the choice of a care facility for a loved one. Beyond the excellence of staff, beyond professional credentials, and beyond the state - of-the-art equipment, a nursing facility must have al l the qualities of home comfort, with a warm, inviting, familiar, and secure feeling. It must convey an uplifting trust in
the future, both for residents and for their families. The additions to the facility blend seamlessly and uphold these values. This skilled nursing facility offering 202-beds, with short and long term accommodations boasts the first circular walkway in the State of New Jersey for Alzheimer’s residents which continues to prove its beneficial effects in treating this population. The Physical and Occupational Therapy areas are designed to incorporate sophisticated
rehabilitation equipment in an atmosphere that enhances the rehabilitative healing experience at the highest standards.

FEMINO DUCEY QUELER ORTHOPAEDIC GROUP

57 ROUTE 46 EAST, HACKETTSTOWN, NJ

Well-respected clients demand well-respected designs. The Femino Ducey Queler Orthopedic Group have been providing exemplary services over the last decade with international acclaim and sought out the best when preparing to launch their new facility. Working within the parameters of an existing building, the new design assigns patients relative to a central charting / nursing station. This provides both a comfortable mode of circulation for the visitor as well as a common meeting / staging area for staff. Administrative spaces progressively radiate from this hub based on their relationship with the patient areas with a sizeable Physical Therapy Area nearby. This is an excellent example of the trans-formative process that occurs when outdated properties can be reworked into contemporary pieces of art.

REGENT CARE CENTER

50 POLIFLY ROAD, HACKENSACK, NJ

This 180-bed facility is uniquely located on a restricted sloping site that required meticulous planning at all stages from initial design through construction. The building has its mechanical nd storage areas below grade providing
maximum exposure for programmatic elements on the upper floors. The second floor provides offices, therapy, and activity spaces with three additional floors of sixty beds each above. Two drives below the building provide patient and
visitor access to a glass lobby.

REHAB AT RIVER’S EDGE

633 ROUTE 28, RARITAN, NJ

The importance of repeat clients is a proclamation of good service and satisfaction. Having worked on a previous addition to this building, we welcomed the opportunity to revisit the project and develop alterations and renovations in two other wings of this existing skilled nursing facility. As construction is finishing up, the reception desk is being relocated into a newly designed lobby with additional workrooms and office spaces. Elsewhere, a former nurse station that is no longer required is being converted into an array of support spaces including clean linen, soiled linen, oxygen tank storage, and a larger office for the Director of Nursing. Part of this $3 million project will include upgraded mechanical and electrical systems. Projects of this nature require a special attention to looking ahead for what the clients want to create while simultaneously balancing changes to the existing construction to ensure that all applicable codes and standards are addressed.

ESSEX SURGICAL ARTS

727 JORALEMON STREET #B, BELLEVILLE, NJ

Essex Surgical Arts is a Class-C Outpatient Surgical Facility. Deceptively simplistic in design, it is actually a complex program to provide a single Class-C operating room insofar as one must carefully apply the recommendations of the American College of Radiology. The outpatient surgical facility is divided into three designated zones of use: unrestricted, semi-restricted, and restricted; each defined by the physical activities performed there. Circulation must provide a carefully controlled movement of patients and personnel into, through, and out of defined areas within the surgical suite in a set order. This operating facility is equipped for major surgical procedures requiring general and regional block anesthesia and support of vital bodily functions. The O.R. temperature is individually controlled and the surrounding operating support rooms are thermostatically controlled for the comfort of its occupants. A generator is situated on the premises for emergency support. The administrative offices are intentionally kept separate and secure from the operatory. Every aspect of this project mandates the highest standards of healthcare architecture.
