OUR STORY

Bertone Cozzarelli Healthcare Architects, LLC (BCH) has specialized in all types of health care facility
projects for more than three decades. BCH prides itself from past experience in the respective areas of
the design and construction of healthcare facilities. BCH has designed nursing homes, sub-acute care
units, minor hospital renovations, assisted living facilities, skilled nursing, adult day care, psychiatric
units, Alzheimer units, surgical-centers, imaging facilities, ambulatory care facilities, gastrointestinal
endoscopy facilities, renal dialysis centers, as well as, many other health related facilities.

At BCH, we embrace certain basic principles. Since the creation of our firm, we have adhered to the belief
that a client deserves the highest levels of creativity, quality, and service. Simply, a satisfied client is a
repeat client.

BCH is a full service architectural, interior design, and planning firm that also have the capability of
providing engineering, construction management and design/build project delivery services. Our staff is
highly qualified to professionally service the needs of a wide variety of healthcare projects types. BCH
utilizes a network of affiliated specialists and consulting firms to offer our Clients a totally coordinated
project beyond the traditional architect/engineer relationship.

It is because of BCH expertise in Health Care Architecture that enables them to be expert consultants to
other firms who seek out their services. Further, The Health Care Association of New Jersey has solicited
their expertise to lecture at their annual convention on several occasions. Additionally, the director, chief,
and staff members from the Department of Community Affairs Division (DCA), Codes and Standards, State
of New Jersey have acknowledged this firm’s expertise in healthcare architecture. The DCA has
consistently praised Bertone Cozzarelli Healthcare Architects for the completeness and thoroughness of
their applications and construction documents.

The firm’s original principal Ronald P. Bertone, FAIA, PP, FACHA is of emeritus status and consults. BCH
is under the leadership of Robert Cozzarelli, AIA, PP, NCARB, CID and Roger Cirminiello, AIA. Individually,
they all have the distinction of being award winning design architects. The American Institute of
Architects elected Ron Bertone to Fellowship in 1997. Less than 2% of the licensed architects in the
United Sates are distinguished through this honor and elevated to Fellowship by the AIA. In 2000, the
American College of Healthcare Architects certified Mr. Bertone as a Fellow.

Robert Cozzarelli, AIA, PP, NCARB, CID currently serves as the elected AIA New Jersey National Regional
Director and was honored with a 2014 Richard Upjohn Fellowship Medal for his service to the profession
on the AIA National Board of Directors. Robert served as President of AIA-New Jersey in 2004 and is an
active Associate Member of The Health Care Association of New Jersey. In 2009 Robert was honored as
AIA-NJ Architect of the Year. In 2005 Robert received the AIA-NJ Distinguished Service Award and his
civic involvement is extensive but he is particularly honored to have received a Paul Harris Fellow from Rotary. (Complete CV is enclosed)

The mission of our firm is to offer Clients professional guidance and practical design solutions to enable
them to achieve their intended objectives for a thoughtful design that will enhance the components that
are so important for an environment of care.

BCH has successfully completed projects within a construction budget range up to, and including $20
million with personal “hands-on” service to our clients. This is what makes our modest size firm unique.

BCH offers our Clients services that truly respond to their project’s specific needs. Our designs are creative, yet practical, paying special attention to our Client’s budgetary and functional needs.
Our
approach is inclusive, keeping our Clients involved, at all times, in all aspects of the project planning and
implementation process. This allows for a multidisciplinary team approach to include architects, engineers, administrators, clinicians, facility managers, support staff, etc. to meet the goals and objectives of the project. It is because of this philosophy that has resulted in numerous repeat commissions from
satisfied clients who trust us and respect our guidance and talents as architects.

BCH has over 30 years of experience in the design of hospitals, nursing homes, and health related facilities.
We have designed Skilled Nursing Care Facilities for a variety of clients and population groups. Residents
in our projects range from young people who suffered disabling injuries, to persons with AIDS, to the normal cross-section of aging population, to elderly persons suffering from Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of Dementia.

Our designs have included new buildings, replacement facilities, additions to existing structures, adaptive
reuse of a historic building and converting and adding to an old factory to create a new 240 Bed Geriatric
Care Facility and Residential Care Facility. We have designed and built Skilled Nursing Facilities in New
Jersey and New York. Several of our buildings incorporate Adult Day Care Centers, along with Acute Care
/ Special Needs Units. Many of our projects have been cited for design and/or energy awards.

Our firm has designed many projects for private, State and Federal government agencies.
These projects include Psychiatric Care, MRI, and CT-Scan Units, Clinical Trials, Respiratory Care are among the specialties, and freestanding Outpatient Surgical Centers with Class C operating rooms.

We are proud of the planning and design efforts that make our facilities extremely comfortable for the
residents, pleasant and inviting for visits by family and friends, and relatively easy to manage and
maintain by the administration and staff.

Today, our internal structure as a creative healthcare design organization, allows us to continually
provide our new and repeat clients with a direct-line approach-from situation to solution-as a full service
firm.
